Solar Water Pumping System at Moroto Municipality
With the advances in pump technology over recent years,
areas that would
previously have been considered uninhabitable or not
supportive of life have
become viable and attractive. With the new SQ Flex system,
Grundfos can
consolidate these areas and pioneer further into new
territories: Consolidating by
up grading older unreliable pump technology, and pioneering
by providing more
stable and low-maintenance pumping solution in even
more remote areas like
Moroto. This solar water pump system is using a Grundfos
type SP 3A
10/140 Volts supplied by Davis & Shirtliff –
Uganda, powered by 32 pcs of
50 watt peak (1600WP) pumping 50 cubic meters of water
per day at a head of
60 meters from the borehole to the tank. By analyzing
such areas like Moroto of North
East of Uganda, location specific variables as average
sunshine Grundfos makes it
possible for water maker to calculate how much natural
energy is available over
an average season. This means only the most appropriate
energy source of solar
power to drive this system into the under ground tank,
with a capacity of
110,000 litres of water which supply the municipality
at a gravity pressure.
